Critical Thinking Essay: Plan and Structure

  • Construct objective, analytical arguments and conclusions that are well supported by relevant use of information, evidence, and data, in written form.

Task

Choose an essay question from the list provided and conduct academic research to write a persuasive analytical essay of between 1200 and 1500 words.

In this essay, you will argue your opinion / position (thesis) on the issue, support your opinion with three relevant arguments and include three counter arguments to demonstrate your critical thinking skills.

 

You are advised to follow the persuasive analytical essay structure (as suggested on the next page) and to write in an academic style.

In order to support your position and present a convincing argument, you will be expected to conduct thorough research using academic sources. In-text citations, paraphrases and accurate referencing are required. In addition to supporting your position, you will also need to research counter arguments to present valid opposing arguments.

 

Your essay should include a minimum of 10 references that are accurately cited and listed in your Reference List in Harvard style.
