Strategies for Reducing Poverty

There are different strategies for reducing poverty. The following are some of the strategies:

Sustained Economic Growth

The promotion of the economic growth ensures that there is an increased total income in the society which leads to more job creation and increased income. It is true that in the past year that economic growth has been a major factor in ensuring that there is a reduced level of poverty which is seen mostly in the pre-war Britain. However, it is both certain that income and wealth will ensure that the poorest are trickled down.

Reduced Employment

It is true that unemployment is a major cause of poverty as the people which not employed have little money which they can use to make ends meet. They struggle to survive and even borrow food leading to higher level of poverty in the society. Therefore, it is the duty of the government to ensure that they create employment t to all which are not employed to ensure that poverty is reduced. In an economy where jobs are availed to the citizens, production is increased to higher levels.  Ones the supply sided is well controlled and the demand side also scrutinised, unemployment is reduced leading to poverty reduction in a given county.

Progressive Taxes

It is the responsibility of the government to ensure that all progressive taxes in the country are reduced to avoid leading to increased poverty levels. Whenever there are higher taxes imposed on citizens and yet they are not having good jobs, they will be disincentive to work. It is true that higher incentives have a higher income on labour implying that they have to be reduced as a way of fighting poverty. Since those higher income taxes will reduce the incentives to work, it is important that taxes are reduced to a minimal level. Due to higher taxes, most businesses might adjust their wages to suit their taxes ranges. Therefore, it is important that taxes have to be reduced to ensure that poverty level is reduced.

Increasing Benefits to the Poor

It is of a higher importance that the benefits which the poor are entitled to in the company ought to be increased to greater levels. Such an act will help to ensure that poverty in the country is dealt with accordingly. Again, giving benefits like medical cover and allowances will help reduces the cost of incurred by the poor, thus, cut poverty levels. Allowing money to be target to they who need it most will help ensure that poverty levels are reduced. Moreover, universal benefits will also work to ensure that burden of tax is reduced drastically. Such benefits will ensure that the burden of the taxpayer is reduced. The use of benefits to reduce poverty help to ensure that stigmatisation is reduced as people are no longer downgraded for being poor. A lot has to be done to ensure that all citizens have jobs to do at least to earn a loving and in turn reduce the poverty levels in the country. Evidently, such an act is referred to as the benefit of trap or the poverty trap which is a way to deal with poverty level. To ensure that the poverty trap is avoided, the government has to create beneficial points which are of higher use of all. Also, all people have to fall within the same  range to avoid the poverty level country.
